Did you know?

Recently, at a fire which the Sussex Fire Department responded to, we had fire hose damaged by operators of motor vehicles which drove over fire hose. Did you know it is illegal in New Brunswick to drive over a fire hose? Not only is the damage risky to the person who drives over the hose but firefighters and their apparatus can be placed at considerable risk from the surge and/or loss of water which can occur. Doing so also causes resources to be taken out of service until they can be properly tested to insure our safety. Damaged equipment must be permanently removed from service at considerable cost to the department and ultimately to you, the taxpayer.
