A Heat Alert (LEVEL 1) is being issued for July 4 and 5, 2019, for Fredericton and Southern York County, Oromocto and Sunbury County, Grand Lake and Queens County, Woodstock and Carleton County, Stanley, Doaktown and Blackville Area, Grand Falls and Victoria County. Western Restigouche County, Mount Carleton-Renous Highway, Edmundston and Madawaska County. St. Stephen and Northern Charlotte County, Quispamsis, Sussex, Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County.
The alert will remain in effect for July 4 and 5, 2019 only. Alert levels are based on the highest reasonable predictions at the time of issuance and on data specific to Fredericton and Southern York County, Oromocto and Sunbury County, Grand Lake and Queens County, Woodstock and Carleton County, Stanley, Doaktown and Blackville Area, Grand Falls and Victoria County.
HARS heat alerts are issued as early as possible the day before the days of the alert and can be reissued if conditions warrant.
Those most at risk for heat illness include adults over 65, children 4 years-old and under, people who are overweight, people taking some prescription or over-the-counter medications and those with certain chronic medical conditions. Care should be taken to ensure that those who are at risk are monitored and cared for regularly.
